Operation Overlord was the codename for the Battle of Normandy, the Allied operation that launched the successful invasion of German-occupied Western Europe during World War II. The operation was launched on 6 June 1944 with the Normandy landings on Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Gold Beach, Juno Beach, and Sword Beach.
This was one of the most important operations of WW2 that helped the Allied Forces defeat the Nazis. We decided this was an important ring to make due to the historical gravity and the countless lives that were sacrificed that stared evil down in pursuit of freedom.
This triple channel ring contains your choice of sand from one of the historical beaches of Operation Overlord (Please choose an option when ordering from the drop down menu of which beach sand you would prefer. As sand is depleted it will be removed from the options menu). This ring will also include authentic M1 Garand Stock, and lastly a small swatch of uniform from an authentic WW2, 1944 US Army Air Force, 9th USAAF Ike Jacket from a Tech Sergeant.
The sand was gifted to us from one of our customers who used to be a tour guide in France, However due to popularity of the ring we have also sourced our sand from Day of Days Productions, who makes incredible plaques with vials of sand commemorating this operation. This gentleman collected the sand during the 7th decade anniversary year of D-Day and photographed the beach sand lines which we have included in our product picture gallery (all credit goes to Day of Days Production for those photos). The plaques are gorgeous and we highly recommend checking this company out!
The uniform was won from an auction hosted by Artman Enterprises who also has an incredible collection of authentic war items. The M1 Garand stock was sourced directly from Stock Emporium. Please note that the picture of plaque is included as proof of where we got additional sand and is NOT included with purchase of ring.
Please note that this design is only available in sizes 7-14.5 due to amount of material being used. Please contact us if you are looking for a smaller size and we may be able to custom design a double channel ring that accommodates a smaller size!
