This ring is one of the most interesting rings we have made!
The Meiji period is a truly significant shift for Japan as it is an era of Japanese history that extended from October 23, 1868 to July 30, 1912. The Meiji era was the first half of the Empire of Japan, when the Japanese people moved from being an isolated feudal society at risk of colonization by Western powers to the new paradigm of a modern, industrialized nation state and emergent great power, influenced by Western scientific, technological, philosophical, political, legal, and aesthetic ideas
We were lucky enough to grab a gorgeous Late 18th Century antique Japanese Cloisonné enameled vase from a local auction after it was initially damaged when transported from Japan. In our eyes, we don't see damage. Instead, we found a unique opportunity to utilize the pieces and allow the artwork to live on through our rings in this limited edition creation!
Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects with colored material held in place or separated by metal strips or wire, normally of gold or bronze. In recent centuries, vitreous enamel has been used, but inlays of cut gemstones, glass and other materials were also used during older periods.
This ring is made up of crushed enamel fragments and brass shavings from the aforementioned vase and accented with authentic Samurai sword fragments found in Aizuwakamatsu from the Meiji Restoration period 19th century Sourced by one of our partners History Hoard! Underneath the enamel we have matched the enamel with a light blue and red glow powder mixed with diamond dust to really make the ring stand out!
Even though these rings charge naturally by sunlight to glow in the dark, each ring comes with a free UV light keychain to make them light up anywhere at any time! Ring also comes with a box, cleaning cloth, and a carry pouch.
Due to the rarity of materials and limited amount we can provide off of this specific vase, there are no refunds or exchanges for this specific ring. Once we have utilized all parts, we will discontinue this ring permanently. Each ring will have an assortment of colors and enamel fragments from the best detailed parts of the vase and will be as vibrant as the ring shown in pictures!
